Hi everyone, Hopefully the Digest problem is fixed once and for all as some idiot subscribed the gus digest address to the list so that when the digest gets sent to the digest address, it is in the buffer of the outgoing digest and then will be in the next days digest. Oh well, must be one of those SB or AWE owners on the loose! Anyways, if this happens again, please let me know. Thanks. If they are coming, could you please show us some f**king proof that you guys have something? Say, a public beta? If not, could you guys stop lying and tell us the truth? Second, since no one has posted about it, has anyone gotten EA's US Navy Fighters to work with the GUS? The Readme says to setup the GUS for MPU401 and SB clone in the game (i.e. load megaem). This doesn't work. Third, on the flooding issue why not simply kill all questionable messages (say messages over a certain size or including certain lines). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 03 Dec 1994 17:30:57 +0100 From: "Jerry van Waardenberg" Subject: Good patch replacements? Hi, I'm looking for some patch replacements. I currently have the Pro Pats collection and I really like the guitar and drum samples. However, these patches (especially the guitar-samples) are quite large and they seem to have another format then the original patches (MegaEm complains about incompatible patch-format). Are there other, smaller and good sounding patch-replacements for the (electric) guitars, saxes, strings and drums? I have an Intel motherboard P90 system with a GUS and an SCC-1. I have been trying to get Mega-em to work with SB digital and SCC-1 midi. Has anyone had any luck?? When I try to run mega-em it gives an error with extended memory management. I then tried the -fgdt switch and it tells me another program is using the Ultrasound when it isn't.. In all cases I have turned off roland emulation with the -roff switch. I am using version 2.03 of megaem. Any help will be appreciated... -Jeff ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 04 Dec 94 18:47:55 +0000 From: musicman@werple.apana.org.au Subject: News Group Just wondering whether the GUS news group was ever setup?? There was a fair bit of discussion about it a few weeks ago. I cant remember if there was a yah or nah! if there is a newsgroup happening where do i find it..?? That is, it still responds to applications, seems to load patches, etc., but produces no sound. I have gone through several changes of DMA, IRQ, other memory slots for the scanner, etc, to no avail. Even removing the scanner card completely doesn't restore things. What's strange is that the card behaves just like it is working properly -- loads patches, etc. Just no sound. When I run setup I get the message On script line 81 we had a problem: Error code 2247 and the setup stops. I worry that a chip has somehow been zapped, but have no way to find out. If anybody has run into a similar problem, I'd be very grateful if you would tell me what you did. I suppose a next step would be sending the card back to Gravis. BUT!... I just happened to be looking through the sound drivers and noticed that they are using DIGPAK drivers. I found if i copied the gf1666.com driver (which comes with version 3.56 of install disks) over the soundrv.com and now i have GUS support. !!! Now thats what i like 8-) Its not a bad game either! I just purchased US Naval Fighters from EA, and am having a tough time getting it to work with the GUS. The readme file says that the GUS isn't supported natively, and it must be configured as a Roland/SoundBlaster combo. I took this to mean that MegaEm must be used, but when I run the game, I simply get a ton of garbled instrument patches or individual sound samples.
