A couple of points. A 1 meg ROM chip is standard, if you want more, you must connect the Waveblaster. Card is $599 Austrlian. Ships with 512k. Holds 28 megs RAM. I think it is way overpriced... $599 then you need to add the Waveblaster another $350. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Mar 1994 16:24:42 -0500 (EST) From: m8088044@llohio.ll.pbs.org (Fred Coffey) Subject: DOOM (Again!) (There should be a separate digest for game questions) Anyway, here's my question. Anyone have any idea why I'm getting no digital sounds in the game? My ULTRASND is set at 220,1,1,11,7. Music works fine, but when I go over to my friend's house who has a SB16 ASP, BLAM! Digital sounds aplently. What am I doing wrong? Also, to avoid some flames, if this was in a previous digest, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. The last daily digest I got was Volume 11 number 20-something or something like that. I don't know if its my site or what, but I used to get digests everyday, now I'm lucky if I get three or four every WEEK. I also just found out today of the new server address, too. To all of you who were wondering about the GUS and Sierra.... Jayeson finished the drivers about 3 weeks ago. We sent em up to Sierra, who are currently testing them, cuz they want to include them in PQ4 CD and LSL6 CD versions. Once Sierra is finished with them (about 2 weeks), they will release the drivers to the public. Gravis cannot release them since they theoretically are the property of Sierra. Also, we have no plans to release a SB Compatibility daughterboard. We still feel that the GUS card works with "most" games designed for the SB. Note that Gravis has never claimed 100% compatibility. However, we do believe in our products, and that is why we have been aggressively pursuing third party development. This effort is beginning to pay off. Already this month we have seen the release of Hired Guns, Microcosm, Archon Ultra, Pinball Fantasies, and are looking forward to Sea Wolf, Star Reach, The Horde, Great Naval Battles 2, Arena and Out of this World 2 just to name a few. Of course compared to the "millions" of games that support the SB, this may not seem like many, but it is the result of excellent dialogue between our development team and the game developers. You can also check out UltraSound MAX advertisments in April and May in Wired, Computer Gaming World, and Multimedia World. Let me know what you think of the new ad campaign. Cheers! Also the review in > PCFormat made no mention of the GUS. > > Strange that. It's not strange at all. The Europe release of Hired Guns does not have GUS support, only the US release has. In fact, I believe the US release of Hired Guns is quite different from the Europe release. -JL ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Mar 1994 14:09:00 GMT From: thomas@hammer.hacktic.nl (Thomas van Kuipers) Subject: INDY CAR & Sonic sound card....
