I wanted my Mitsumi to play thru the GUS. I've connected that Y connector Thing to the back of the Mitsumi to the back of the Gus. The Tech guy said to add one thing like a /l or something to the ultrainit in my config. or something.. Well my point is I forgot what he said so I'd appreciate it if someone could mail me and tell me what to do. thanx Jack ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Feb 1994 23:24:45 -40962758 (PST) From: adaswani@sdcc13.ucsd.edu (Adarsh Daswani) Subject: GUS0038 & Epas If Gravis decides to release any more 2.5 meg updates, I truly hope they find a faster FTP site than Epas... I remember you have to copy a file to a file , run ultramid, ebla, blaa. Could someone explain exactly the procedure? Please?? Also, When I installed the new 3.1 software, and ran windows, It never created a new GroupIcon, so I have NO idea what new window routines are there. Could someone please list them and their respective file names, so I can add them to the group. (like patchmaker lite? WinMOd? is there more.??) And a little comment, I also lost keyboard control when I unloaded the new SBOS (using -f) from memory!!1 thanx to all for any help. ciao. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Feb 1994 13:20:52 +0100 From: chief@lysator.liu.se Subject: New software problem (easy easy) I also have a problem with the new software (GUS0038.ZIP), but of a more mundane way - I can't find it! Where have y'all put it? Searched epas - nope. Searched (or _tried_ as it wouldn't accept anonymous logins) theoris.rz.uni-konstanz.de, did the only think I thought possible ("They shipped it off to Taiwan!") and searched nctuccca.edu.tw, but nooooooooo. Well, as this is Sweden, and Finland is kinda close, I also tried garbo, but nothing there either. (ehm.. the first word in the fourth line should be "thing" not "think") So where is it? H E L P. If it thinks that your NMI is disabled, then it probably is, and without the NMI, SBOS cannot work. It is often not possible to re-enable an inactive NMI (since, often, it seems that the designers of the motherboard chose not to implement it). > My machine is a 486SX local bus with 4 megs of ram and both > local bus I/O card and Video. Mega-Em will emulate a Roland MT-32 or GM synth and an SB DAC on the GUS without requiring the NMI (but requiring that the program you plan to use the emulator with runs in real mode), so you aren't entirely tied to SBOS. > Date: Thu, 3 Feb 1994 20:17:51 +1100 (EST) > From: Andrew See > Subject: Indycar > > Phat, regarding indycar, and it's inability to produce engine > sounds on a Wavetable synth, don't forget we have RAM. The proper functioning of the GUS' 32-bit AIL drivers does not depend on any special setups (except one that works), and does not require you to configure soundcard base addresses or IRQs for the game. > > Also does the couple Xwing & Megaem need the GUS to be in 220? You might need to tell Mega-Em to not emulate an SB if you already have a real one co-existing with your GUS. MODUS is just as light on the CPU as a DOS GUS MOD player, so CPU speed isn't your problem (I have a 386-33 and MODUS runs full speed on it). You might have another program which is trying to use the WAV/MIDI portion of the GUS driver at the same time that MODUS is running. MODUS requires sole possession of the GF1, so anything that attempts to play sounds or music through the GUS at the same time as MODUS will screw up or cause MODUS to screw up. > My second problem is probably my own fault.
